The Renelien Family
Family Members: 14

Ages: 62, 44, 38, 32, 21, 19, 18, 16, 13, 12, 9, 7, 5, 3

Their Story: Mrs. Jesulia Renelien and her family lost their homes in the earthquake. Everyone survived but one of her children was injured. Now, all 14 of them are living together in a tent on her property. They are also sometimes able to stay in a neighbor's house. Fortunately Jesulia did not lose her job. She is the cook for over 100 children that attend the school run by her church in Meyer. Jesulia is very involved in her church helping other women.
The Home of Hope would provide Jesulia and her family better protection from the elements as well as a secure place to leave the few possessions they still have.

The Joseph FamilyFamily Members: 6

Ages: 75, 73, 28, 26, 8, 5.

Their Story: The Joseph's home was destroyed during the earthquake. The 6 family members now live in a tent on their property and can occasionally stay in a neighbor's house. Neither the grandmother or grandfather work and their son lost his job due to the quake.

Ages: 46, 44, 20, 29, 28, 16, 10, 8, 6, 1.

Their Story: The Pierre's home was totally destroyed but thankfully no one was injured. Now, all 10 of them live with their neighbors. In addition to losing their home, both father and mother lost their jobs due to the quake so rebuilding, right now, is impossible. The Home of Hope would give them some privacy as a family and help them regain some independence as they pick up the pieces of their lives.

The Marie Joseph FamilyFamily Members: 9

Ages: 68, 43, 21, 17, 15, 12, 11, 8, 2.

Their Story: Marie's home was totally destroyed. Several of her children sustained minor injuries in the quake. She, her mother and 7 children are now living with neighbors and in a tin shack. Marie has no job. Her mother is a voodoo witch doctor. The Home of Hope will allow a local pastor to better minister to this family on an on-going basis.

Their Story: Mrs. Hubert lost everything due to the earthquake. Her home was destroyed. She lost her job. And her money was also lost. Everyone in her family survived, with a few sustaining only minor injuries. The family is now living in a tent city located at Delmas #33. A Home of Hope would allow them to have a little privacy and security.

Their Story: Jean's home is a pile of rubble and he lost his job due to the earthquake. His family sustained minor injuries. He is a Deacon of his local church. The family of 6 now lives in a tent city located at Delmas #33. A Home of Hope would allow this family to move back to their property and begin clearing and rebuilding their home.

Their Story: The Vilme's house totally destroyed. Before the quake, Mrs. Vilme sold wares on the street. But when her house was destroyed she also lost all the items she had to sell. Fortunately the family is all safe and no one was injured. They are currently living in a tent in the courtyard of a long-term missionary. A Home of Hope would allow the Vilme's security on their property so they can begin their street vendor business again.

Their Story: When the quake struck, Jean lost everything. Her home was totally destroyed. She lost her job. And one of her family members was injured. Being a member of a local church has provided her with some support. Her family is now living in a makeshift home covered by a tarp at the Town Square of Canape Vert. A Home of Hope would provide a safe place to keep what little they have left.

Their Story: The Gabriel home was flattened when the earthquake hit. Mr. Gabriel also lost his job. No one was injured, however now this family of 6 lives in a van at the Town Square of Canape Vert. A Home of Hope would provide this family privacy, protection and a place to call home.

Their Story: The Alfred's house is damaged beyond repair. She lost her job, and her husband is deceased. Her son also lost his job. So no one in the family has an income. They are living in a makeshift house covered by a tarp. A Home of Hope will give them security and a place from which they can start the long road of rebuilding.
